Nowadays booking English exams becomes to be easier than before by utilising the internet, so that I booked some English exams easily. Some Japanese friends take 'TOEIC' as a certificate of English skill or an evidence of improvement in English. But on my case, I do not have to take it for applying job vacancies or enrollment of a graduate school in Japan. Therefore, I have decided to take 'TOEFL' and 'Eiken'.
'TOEFL' is one of the most valuable choices to apply graduate schools (or universities) all over the world. As I described before, I am planning to apply other graduate schools in the near future. Moreover, I do not feel like declining my English skills. Then, it is a good reason for keeping up with my motivation until my coming back to the UK, and also to identify my English skills.
Taking ‘Eiken’ is a part of same reason as well as taking ‘TOEFL’. But I did not know that some foreign schools such as college, university, can consider as a certificate of English skill. Moreover, some universities allow a unit of English subject without any lesson through academic years at present. It seems like incredible change comparing with my academic years in the last century.
These circumstances are available to look for several potentials of evidence in English, in terms of another certificate can cover other English requirements such as evidence of working potential on business, academic skill and a unit as a subject. Actually, there are so many English exams in Japan, even if some of them have less demand than ‘TOEIC’ on business or academic.
In conclusion, some dominant English exams are having more potential on business and academic scene in Japan. It seems that this term might be restructuring of English exams. Some are dumped into the dustbin by dominant exams, as they can seldom adapt valuable evidences of English. However I might describe that dominant exams are mainly focused on general English skills, in terms of rarely cover specific fields such as science, comers and translation. Therefore, English exams will be developed year by year, not only Japan also all over the world.
というわけで...TOEFLと英検を受験することになりました!
